HVAC & Insulation

Insulation

Attic area was covered in not one, but two full layers of R19 Fiberglass insulation.

Insulation

First floor was insulated from the full basement with one layer of R19 insulation.

Insulation

The entire perimeter walls downstairs and upstairs were drilled with two 1" holes above and below the purlins inside the walls and were blown with insulation. Over 1,000 holes were drilled in all the perimeter walls. Picture shows holes after drilling, and filling with insulation. This work, along with the R19 in the first floor and double R19 in attic area, reduced the heating and cooling energy cost by 75% over previous owner's energy cost.

Insulation

Wall blown insulation holes after repairs, but before painting.

HVAC

Climate control is handled by a 5-ton gas pack servicing downstairs and a 5-ton Heat Pump for servicing upstairs. Typical use is running the gas pack downstairs in the winter and let the heat rise to the second floor and running the upstairs unit in the summer and the cool air settles downstairs. A large period ceiling fan is used in the open staircase / landing area over the second foyer to help air flow up or down by the season.

Insulation

Both of the front side porches and the back side porch ceilings were drilled and blown with insulation also.
